Party at the Plaza Wrap-Up

The Waimalu Plaza was “partying” on Sunday, October 23 to raise funds for the TACA Hawaii chapter.  Led by Darrell and Lee Choy of Paradise Optical and Jill Shiroma of Shiroma’s Wines and More, small businesses in Aiea, Hawaii pulled together to throw a fun, family oriented benefit.

The event was highlighted by the 2nd Annual Amateur Country Stew Cook-Off.  Fifteen contestants competed for the title of “Best Stew in the Islands,” as well as a $500 Oakley gift basket and a $200 bowling party from Aiea Bowl.  Aiea Bowl also donated 500 bowls of gluten free/casein free stew and hundreds of non gf/cf desserts to add to the festivities.

The Rotary Club of Pearlridge orchestrated “Keiki Games” while lively entertainment was provided by Roy Sakuma’s Ukulele Studio and the band “Kakio.”  An enticing silent auction and interesting vendor tables rounded out the day’s activities.

Major contributors to the event were Oakley, Aiea Bowl, Loveland Academy, the LD & ADHD Center, Office Depot, Y Hata, Waimalu Plaza, Clear Hearing, Central Pacific Bank and Hinode Rice.

A HUGE MAHALO to the event organizers – Paradise Optical and SWAM: Shiroma’s Wines and More – for generating almost $8,000 for TACA.
